Open House

Please join us for an open house on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 10 am to noon-time. Come see what we are up to!

News from Creatures Playschool...
The chicken coop is built and our two teenaged, Dominique chickens are enjoying the shade. The neighborhood hawk has stopped by twice to patrol the area, so we are working to get the chicken run built as quickly as possible. We are thankful for the many trees that keep the chickens safe and provide us with shade. We have three cantaloupe that are slowly ripening on the vine. We are thankful for the honey bees who are still visiting us despite the heat and drought. We found that there are actually TWO toads living together in the hole by the water spigot! Inspired by the outdoor area at the All Austin Co-op, we added a fun waterfall element to the sandbox.

The indoor environment is evolving as well. We have added materials representing dinosaurs and animals of the grasslands to the science center. We have a new book on endangered animals. A found cicada shell is on display and ready to be inspected with the magnifying glass. We are looking forward to the arrival of the movable alphabet we ordered from Neinhaus to round out the available written language materials. I will be updating the blog with more information about language and math learning within the next few days.

We are gearing up for an August 23 start date!
